The police brutality and state repression against the students fighting for the social justice in

the university campuses like University of Hyderabad and Jawaharlal Nehru University at Delhi,
is well evident from the present situation of Hyderabad Central University. The attitude of the
Vice Chancellors of both the universities, obviously, disrupts the educational environment and
peace in the educational institutions. At this juncture, the following poem featured in the tamil
Novel Witnesses of Silence based on Coimbatore bomb blast and the consequent oppression
against Muslims written by Samsu Deen Heera is much relevant and vital.
Justice!
delayed justice is denied justice
moral, equitable, just men say.
we are running in groups
in the hope of justice
with no time to lift
the stumbled and fallen
we are running for years
in the hope of justice
without long-standing struggle
it is impossible to obtain justice here
even at the end of long-standing struggle
justice is not sure
the justice for us is trampled
under the polished boots

sometimes when the lathis

turns into tridents (trishuls)
justice for us
becomes a question-mark
it took 12 years for the justice
to decide my innocence
stealing away the quarter of my life
with all courtesy
justice acquits me as innocent
after throwing away the poison
in the roots of my adolescence
shamelessly, justice is saying Im innocent
losing my adolescence wings
behind the iron bars
Im travelling
in search of the meaning of my future
inside the darkness
our journey for justice
is still continuing
our voice for justice
is still ringing
