Course Description:
Provides students with an opportunity to integrate the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the
program. Students work in teams to develop a solution to an industry-based problem, relevant to their
program major. Students apply project management techniques and elements of the System
Development Life Cycle approach.

How the student will be learning:
This course has the characteristics of a project-based course in which students work in teams, to research
and accomplish a project, utilizing skills gained through other courses in their curriculum. The instructor's
role is one of a mentor or facilitator only. 

Learning Outcomes:

CLO 1- Participate effectively in teams to complete an industry-based project.

CLO 2- Develop a suitable plan for the project after conducting a preliminary investigation.

CLO 3- Collect and analyze a users IT-based requirements.

CLO 4- Design, develop, test and implement a solution based on user requirements and
integrating skills acquired during the program.

CLO 5- Effectively communicate project findings to a range of audiences. How the student will
be learning: This course has the characteristics of a project-based course in which students work

Expectation from the student:
Students will be expected to have the required software on their laptops for use in class at all times
during this semester. This course is very much a hands-on course. As it is project based, the project must
be done by the student with the teacher meeting the students once a week to discuss their progress. The
time allocated to this class should be utilized to gather information and undertake this project.

ACADEMIC HONESTY:
All acts of dishonesty in any work constitute academic misconduct. Any violation of academic ethics will be
unacceptable in this class. Students must always submit work that represents his or her original ideas and words.
If any of the ideas or statements are not the students original ones, all relevant sources must be cited. Ideas and
statements that require citation are not only all hardcopy or electronic publications, copyrighted or not, but also
all verbal and visual communication when the source of the cited information/content is clearly identifiable. In
this course academic dishonesty may result in rejecting the students work and giving no credit for that
assignment, or giving a failing grade for the entire course.
To avoid plagiarism, students are required to submit all their assignments to Safe Assign on BB Vista before final
submission. Please remember that HCT has ZERO tolerance policy towards cheating. If you have any questions
related to Safe Assign, please consult with your instructor for clarification.
Deadlines for Assessments and exams
All assessments must be submitted on the deadline at the set time in the appropriate format. Late submissions
will have 5% deducted for each calendar day that they are late. After 7 days, the assignment will not be accepted
and the student will receive zero for that assessment. It is the students responsibility to solve any technical
issues before the due date.
Blackboard Vista and Safe Assign
You need to keep a close eye on Blackboard. Your instructor will regularly upload the discussion
topics/information material on various issues related to your course. You must complete the

discussions/assignments/projects before the allocated date/time. All written assessments must be submitted by
the assigned deadline using Safe Assign.
To avoid, plagiarism it is important for you to apply the Modern Language Association (MLA) standard of in-text

The teaching and learning strategy should promote learning by doing, investigative and collaborative learning.
Productivity tools such as time management, word processing, spreadsheets and Web apps should be learned by
viewing online video and text tutorials, and demonstration by the teacher. Practical assignments will be devised
to encourage students to use appropriate programs to create accurate business documents.
