On October 10, 2007, NARA sent a letter to_ Chairman of the CEQ, concerning records management services tha~ation (OA) has historically provided to your agency. NARA is informed that the Office of Counsel to the President is seekirig guidance from the Department of Justice (DOl) on whether OA, as a component of the Executive Office of the President (EOP) that is subject to the Presidential Records Act, may serve as the centralized records management office for those components of the EOP that are subject to the Federal Records Act.

In light of this development, NARA and the Counsel's Office have agreed that OA may continue to perform the records management functions of your agency while this issue is under review. Accordingly, we hereby withdraw the October 10 letter and await further guidance from DOl.
