Councilmember Berliner Disappointed by D.C. Public Service Commissions Approval of PepcoExelon Merger
Raises Concerns for Environment, Consumers, He Says
ROCKVILLE, Md. March 23, 2016 - Councilmember Roger Berliner (D-1) this morning offered the
following statement upon the decision of the District of Columbia Public Service Commission to approve
the Pepco-Exelon merger in a 2-1 vote:
The DC Public Service Commissions decision to approve the Pepco-Exelon merger today is
disappointing and a setback for our environment and for consumers. This decision will only put greater
pressure on the Maryland Public Service Commission and the state legislature to adopt policies that
promote renewable energy, consumer protection, and a utility compensation model that holds Exelon
accountable for meeting these environmental and customer values.
