DEFINING MY AUDIENCE
Age My audience is most likely to be based around the ages of 18+ (mainly around the
25+ area). This is because of the age rating of the film I produced and how audiences
would react to the Niche themes.
Gender The film is mainly targeted at a male due to the two male characters in the
opening. Males are more likely go to a film with a male psychotic character compared
to woman who would want to see more female roles in the film.
Income The audience is mostly to have income and spend money regularly on the
cinema as they enjoy going to see more Niche films. Theyll probably own loyalty
cards to certain cinemas so they can get discounted prices and offers.
Personality Theyre most likely to have a higher/middle class personality and respect
the creativity behind films. They will respect creativity behind all types of art.
Likes\Dislikes They will enjoy going to the cinema and art. They will enjoy more Niche
types of music however do enjoy some mainstream artists and songs. They would
enjoy more old-fashioned music types.
Attitude to life They appreciate art and things created for a purpose and/or a reason.
They already have money so they are understand the appreciation for creativity.

DEMOGRAPHICS & PSYCHOGRAPHICS

Demographics defines audiences by the work they do, this breaks the
population into 6 specific groups; A, B, C1, C2, D and E. My film fits into the
B, C1, C2 demographic categories due to its Niche themes and the creativity
behind the film. Demographic A & B consist of High management, bankers,
lawyers, doctor, Middle management teachers and Creative and media people
e.g. Graphic Designers. These professions are most likely to understand the
creativity behind my film whereas lower demographics are based in the more
mainstream audience and wouldnt specific themes behind my film.
Psychographics define audiences by the behavior and personality traits of its
members. Its groups the population by their viewing and spending habits. My
film opening would fit into the Strugglers category. This is because they seek
escapism and feel alienated in the society they live in. So when watching the
film, the common killing of the horror genre helps them seek this escapism
and thrill from horror films such as Giggles. It also slightly fits into the
explorer category due to the creativity behind the opening. The psychotic
killer character attracts this explore audience.

Q5. HOW DID YOU ATTRACT/ADDRESS YOUR AUDIENCE

I appealed to my target audience with a few different factors.
The first being the Mise en scene. The costume and make-up
was used to attract a struggler audience as the blood and
mysterious character of a clown-like man would help them
achieve the sense of escapism because of dullness and pale
face. The locations we used were dull which is meant to
represent the character which would attract the struggler
audience. The camera angles help represent the main
characters psychotic mind which would attract both the
struggler and explorer audiences. Strugglers would use this
as the demented mind would put them in a new world which
the could use to escape. The explorers would be drawn to
this because they would be intrigued by the psychotic mind
and want to learn more about this mad-mans state. The
sound is different to those in the usual horror films, the
explorers would like this backing track as its something
different and they would want to find out more as the pace
of the music increases.
