draping

Definition
It is a sheet of fabric or paper ,
usually the size of a small bed
sheet, for covering all or part of
person’s body during a physical
examination or treatment
What it’s use for ?
1. Provide modesty for the patient
2. Provide access and exposure to
areas to be treated while
protecting other areas
3. Protect patient from unnecessary
exposure of body areas
4. Maintain appropriate body
temperature
5. Protect the patients skin or
clothing from being solid or
damaged
Before draping:
1. Each patient should be informed of the type
of clothing to be worn for the treatment
sessions.
2. Patient should be told that the body will be
protected by linen or substitute garments
except for the area to be treated.
Before draping:
3. Some times the caregiver will need to
inform the patient that clothing may
become soiled even though clean linen is
used as protection.

4. The area to be treated must be exposed


and have freedom of motion.
PRECAUTIONS

1. Use Clean and previously unused linen

2. Garments should be used for each patient

3. Soiled linen and garments must be properly


disposed at the conclusion of each treatment
session
