The Associate Reporting Officer functions under the direct supervision of the (Senior) External
Relations Officer. General guidance and support are received from the (Senior) External
Relations Officer and senior management. However, the incumbent should be able to work
under minimum supervision, show initiative be creative and innovative. Guidance may also be
given by the various specialised units in the office. The position will require close contact with
all sections within UNHCR, partners and other UN agencies to gather, analyse and disseminate
accurate information.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-

Keep abreast with all key developments in the Counrty Operation and prepare and update
briefings and reports.

Consolidating and analysing data on programme implementation and indicators


(protection, education, livelihoods, health) in order to facilitate the preparation of required
reports, i.e. Sitreps, operational update, activity-specific reports as may be required.

Developing presentations, utilizing accurate data and substance from the UNHCR
programm and identify pertinant issues and develop key messages for external
interlocutors.

Conceptualizing and developing fundraising documents and donor submissions and


Reorts.

Maintain close working relationships with the respective sections in the Representation
office and the field Offices and coordinate closely on information triangulatio and activites
linked to the performance of key funtions of the post.

Proactively engage and develop an effective network with key stakeholders in the
Government, NGOs, civil society, UN agencies and donors to inform and promote
UNHCR programs.

Prepare and distribute minutes of the internal, co-ordination and external meetings.

Draft narrative, financial reports and project proposals for donors in compliance with
specific requirements. Proof-reading and editing of documents as required.

Keep abreast and analyse donor policies, deadlines and requirements for humanitarian
assistance funding opportunities, potential for accessing transition, private donors and
draft funding project proposals.

Draft weekly reports, operational update reports, booklets, etc.

Plan and organize external relations events briefings and in a coordinated and efficient
manner timely delivery of documents as per the requirements of UNHCR.

Keep abreast of key political factors, especially those related to the work of UNHCR.

Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:
-

University degree in Journalism, Law, English language or related fields

Excellent analytical drafting and communication skills;

Proven stakeholders management skills

Experience:
A minimum of 4 years of experience in journalism, advocacy, report writing, etc. The ideal
incumbent should be proactive and have good analytical and peoples skill.
Experience in report writing in humanitarian arena and dealing with the public is an asset
Language
Excellent knowledge of English (oral and written), Urdu and other local languages desirable.
