INTRODUCTION:

For centuries, man has used earth as a raw material


for construction of his shelters, refining it to suit local
climate and topography.
This refinement over the years has developed various
technologies in earth construction, to improve the
durability of earth architecture.
Earth construction is sustainable, not affecting nature
and also allowed ordinary people to build their own
homes without depending on master craftsman.
New processes were developed to make earth pressed
blocks and monolithic walls with earth using machines
and sprayed processes to apply earth mixtures directly
in situ.

AIM

To study the traditional earth construction


techniques and earth construction techniques of
contemporary architecture.
To show potentials and possibilities of earth
construction so that the present man desires it just
like other contemporary architectural styles and
materials.

OBJECTIVE

To understand ideology of earth materials.


To study the various earth construction techniques.
To analyse the contemporary earth architecture in
respect to its construction.
To review the possible innovative earth construction
methods and study the minor details that can help
improve its use.
To review the appropriateness of the earth as
building material in present scenario.
