To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing today to recommend Brady Barnhart for a teaching position
throughout the secondary (7-12) grade band. Barnhart is an excellent
student, an accomplished writer, and an outstanding beginning young
teacher who seeks out opportunities to grow professionally and is extremely
reflective and coachable. I recommend him enthusiastically and without
reservation.
Barnhart has been an excellent student here at Frostburg State University. He
is graduating with a 3.95 GPA and has excelled in both his English literature
courses and his secondary education courses. Brady was my student in his
general teaching methods course. In that course the students engage in peer
teaching and peer critique; Barnhart was a real leader in the process, taking
constructive criticism well and offer his colleagues the same.
Barnhart has been a model intern over the last two semesters. His work at
Mount Savage Middle School and Mountain Ridge and Fort Hill High School
has been outstanding. He has proven to be very coachable and collaborative
in his teaching a great asset for a beginning young teacher. The feedback
from his mentor teachers and university supervisors has been full of praise.
Barnharts work in helping to develop both the Maryland Writing Center for
Allegany College (a local two-year institution) and the Frostburg State
University Center for the Literary Arts demonstrates that he is a leader who
wants to create opportunities for all to fall as deeply in love with English
literature and writing as he has. Barnhart will not be a drive-by teacher; he
will be involved in the entire school community.
Brady Barnhart is one of the top three teacher candidates I have worked with
in secondary education since I came to FSU in 2008. You will do your school
