Salety ofa block instrument is ensured by a foalproo! logic sequence and relay interlocking. Safely for the Block ntertace Equipment means it must coroctly acquire the signal and reproduce itatthe other end without any error. case of any failure, tie detected and the systom i lead oa fail-safe state However, there are some very remote possibil jos when the systom may notbe able lo detect a fature which ‘may lead to an unsafe station, This is detined a8 Mean Time between Wrong side Failure (MTEWSF) and according to RDSO speciicalon SPN 147/2008, the igure is 10.8 hrs. This can be very well ensured by using 2 outof3 hardware redundancy logic atthe UO Inerace and processor level. With 28 redundancy system, a 100n as an anomaly is detected, he system s forced toa fall -sae sate leading lo @ RED signal Mishaps are thus avoided, but he mov ement of the Wain is also reseted. To increase the availabilty ofthe system, hus tiple hardware redundancy has been proposed at the VO Interface and Processor level so that even ita fail sale oparation can sti continue wih 2 sols of hardware, thereby Increasing availabiliy, Boteravaiabily is also ensured by using dual redundant power supply unit forthe eystom. fair is dotecod in one sot of hada HIGHLIGHTS OF UNIVERSAL BLOCK INTERFACE EQUIPMENT UBX2000 : + Designas for tal sate operation. + Triple redundant hardware a al levels wits 273 decision logic ensures high degree of safely as woll as availabilly + Syslom moots CENELEC & ORE 155 guidelines for safety and rolabiiy + System meets RDSO specication SPN-144 and SPN-147/2006 forall types of Block Instruments in ‘operation in Indian Railways. + Simple, modular and rugged design. + High performance 16 bit ine! 80C186KC Microcontollr used for Bote sof + CMOSIFET active componants lo ensure low power consumption and beter ralabilly. + H-tel components relays and connectors used to ensure high MTBF + All input-output connections are opticaly andlor galvanically isolated to eliminate ground noise ang cath fut, + Rugged communication protocol for ransmission of eror-toe data, + Dual power supply in hot-stanaby mode increases system avaiabiy. + 16-igit dot matix alpha-numeric display for user tendly man -machine interface, + Environment specication meets 8-800 management, ‘SYSTEM OVERVIEW : Safety and Availablity are the two keywords which ar. “The system is housed in a 19 inch subrack, BU (10.5 inches) high, whichis fixed inside a closed rack of approx 5 Rhigh. The front panel of he closed rack is @ hinged door fited with ransparent plastic sheet so a5 {to enable the operatar to see the LEDS and displays of he system. The door is also provided with a lock to protect the system from unauthorized access. The rear panel ofthe closed rackis normally fixed with screws, “The various cards which have b 1 used in the system aro as follows: Power Supply Unit ‘system Module ‘Communication Driver Unit Relay input interface Module Relay Output Module Relay Feodback Module Display and Reset Pane ‘Alarm Extender Module ‘Alarm “The above modules are housed in a passive backplane which has the provision of accommodating 12 ‘modules. The basic system consists of'wo power supply units connected back'o back, three system units and cone communication driver unit. The above modules consume six xed slots. The subsequent sx slots are for accommodating two nos. ofeach of nput, Feedback and Output modules. The las slts not use “The postion of the power supply unit the systom unit and the communication driv © units fixed on te backplane. To avoid insertion of wrong card in a slo the connectors have relative offset so tat only the right card wil Be accepted in the right slat. Input Oulpul and Feedback module have fixed posiion on the backplane ‘The backplane accepts two Input modules in slot 7 & 8, wo feedback medules in slot 9 & 10 and two output ‘modules in slot 11 & 12, put signals received trough slot 7 will be output through slot 11 atte other end of ‘he UFSBI system, Feedback of ouput signal of sit 11 Is taken through the feedback module of sit 9, Thus the three cards of sot 7,9 & 11 forms a composite set of fist 8 input/output Similarly the three cards of slot 8, 108 12 fomms a composite setof rest input/output “The each of the UO Modules has tiple redundant hardware for the same extemal UO signal to ensure the safety and avallabiliy of he system, These YO modules are interfaced tothe three processors through three separate universal UO bus. The degree of safely specifed is ensured not only by hardware but also by sofware taking inputs and feedbacks fom various stages ofthe system, [All the alarms and staus of the systom are displayed with various onboard LEDs on each of the modules. Furher @ 16 character alphanumeric display panelimodule is used to prompt the various alarm conditions ith shor mnemonics for easy understanding of the problem. The display panel is fitod al the top of the subrack and is commen for allthe thee processors. Incase of alarm inthe syslom a piezo buzzoris activated to draw the attonion ofthe operating stall Acknowledgement of alarm through a key on the display panel sops the buzzer but he alarm is sil cisplayed en -lino as long as it's continued. The display panel also accommodates external resting provision and the veader counter for rgistring these rests The Alarm Extender Module provides alarm indications tothe SM's Panel and relay contacts for external data logger for logging various alarm conaitons . also performs the optional signal amplifeaion for combating ble losses (upto 30dB ) when two UFSBIs are connected trough QUAD cables, “The @-seres relays for interfacing various UO signals are fited in @ panel atthe botom ofthe closed rack Wiring of the various external relays of the Block Instument for interlocking are done through the front and back contacts ofthe O-seres safety relay inside the rack ‘System related information: “This eaupment capable of drving safety sang rays conforming to specteaton BRS: 830 (Sere) na squpment is capabe of waking on Tlacom Cable as wales Vece Channa provided aver Opteal bre oF Merowave syste “This interface equemert conforms tothe vatage and current requramens, impedance maichng and shor ‘Shovel haractet of he lock ravumant (S02 0), “The cosng of signal tansmission thos care of ypes of noise generaly encouriradin the vansmission ‘Salant errs soly of persion apa Pece ree ne information exchanged between te para the nerace qumant contains the source & destin ronal asrossed hfomation pac Kats ars prompt rected the system, “The be of he Blok nsrumens chal wrk on EM slnaingofVolee Channel Atorsatvaly, the bel may be worked trough thes, “The bbck tlphone wil work on a Separate vic chan “The systom works on 24V (120% 00%. “The rseting acy has been proved nthe Display ard Reset Panel o bing back the UESBL no normal {pectin wach nat gone nto shudown nate, The procedre fr reveling hasbeen proved Ie uncon eserpton of De poy ard Reset Panel der te hecaingProcedte~ Reset Opera ‘TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION ‘SYSTEM SPECIFICATION Meets ROSO SPN 147/2005 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION Triple redundancy at all levels including processor CENTRAL PROCESSOR Hight Performance 16 bit intel SOC 196KC Microcontroller Horaware CCENELEC EN 50129, ORE 155.8 [SAFETY COMPLIANCE SOO SPN 144 & SPN 147 / 2005 Sofoware CCENELEC EN 50128, 1/0 MODULES Input Module 46 change ever input, Opto isolated with transient suppressor Output Module 16Q series Relay output with BF / 88 contacts ‘Transient protected Short circuit protected [Note: Output medule needs an Input medule forgetting feedback from the external signaling cela driven by the system.
