First I started off by multiplying the length and the

width and I added in the consideration of the eight other
pieces ( 2 x +6 )( 2 x+5 )=272 . Then I subtracted 272 which is the
area of the garden and we do that because we had to get

the equation in standard form 4 x 22 x242=0 . Then once I

solved that we got two different answers and we have to

simplify the two answers ( x=11 ) x= 2

. So the two answers

were 5.5 and -11. The answer is 5.5 because it cant be -11
because its negative. So that means the extra 8 pieces
are 5.5 ft long.
