Lobbying: Animal Abusers Face Jail Terms as States Crack Down, published by the
Wall Street Journal in 1998, by J.C Conklin, explains how a man received 10 years in
prison for killing five cats. His sentence is the longest term ever for harming
animals, according to the animal-protection groups. Not only did he get the ten
years for killing the cats but he also got two more years because of possessing a
shot gun. There were people in the court room who agreed with the sentences
saying that he should have gotten more time. The excuse he made about killing the
cats was that he was taking his anger out on them because of his alcoholic father
abusing him as a child. He shoved the kittens in the kitchen sink because he
thought he could get away with the murder but he didnt. He received so many
death threats that they had to monitor him the whole time and they hope he
learned his lesson and recovers from with the trauma he did and had received.
