Zoe has been the Assistant Teacher in my second grade classroom this school year, and I cannot stress strongly enough how wonderful she is! Zoe has impressively balanced pursuing her Master’s Degree in Literacy with her responsibilities at Rye Country Day School; no easy task! In second grade, Zoe has been accountable for meeting with, planning for, and teaching a small word study group. She has also had the opportunity to lead Morning Meeting, teach whole group math lessons, work individually with students who need support in all academic areas, plan and execute whole group Mini Lessons and coach small groups in Reader’s Workshop, participate in parent/teacher conferences, as well as collaborate with the second grade team in planning curriculum. She has also taken on countless other responsibilities outside of our classroom. For instance, she co-runs the morning waiting room, happily offers to help other grade levels when coverage is needed, showing great flexibility in doing so, and participates in our Summer Mini Camp Program. Zoe has many strengths as an educator. Most noticeably, she shows patience and empathy for all students, and is particularly sensitive to the varying needs of students within the classroom. She is also extremely thoughtful when thinking about curriculum and planning for lessons. She is always open to constructive feedback on her lessons, and is continually striving to stretch her skill set as a new educator. I am so excited for Zoe to pursue her passion, and strongly feel she would be an asset in any school. Please reach out via email or phone. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss her candidacy further. Sincerely, Stacy ‘kaufma Second Grade Rye Country Day School stacy_kaufman@ryecountryday.org
