Assignment 3: Project Outline

Title: Baseball Bats: The Best Weapon for Surviving A Zombie Apocalypse
Introduction Strategy: I plan on starting of my essay by giving a brief description of the
scenario I want them to picture themselves in for my essay.
o Reasoning: I want to have some control of the imagery that is going on in my
readers minds. By doing this I can get my audience to understand my points and
reasoning a little better. This will also make it easier for those reader who are

unfamiliar with my topic visualize themselves in a zombie apocalypse.

Thesis Statement: In the event of a zombie apocalypse, the metal baseball bat is the
prime weapon of choice for defense against flesh eating zombies due to its minimal
maintenance, easiness of use, and durability giving it the ability to deliver devastating
blows.
o Reasoning: I am doing my thesis statement like this because it is clear and lets

my reader know exactly what my essay is going to be about.

Organization of support:
o Background
Reasoning: After stating my point, I will give some background sources in
order to inform my reader about the history and composition of the
baseball bat. This will give my readers more information on the topic.
o Competing
Reasoning: After my background sources, I will mention my competing
sources. While it will expose my reader to viewpoints that oppose my own
about the utility of baseball bats in a zombie apocalypse, most importantly

this will help me set up to bring up my agreement sources. Ultimately
strengthening my essay by letting my reader know that I studied all
aspects of my topic.
o Agreement
Reasoning: My final support will include my agreement sources. These
are last because I will use them to counter my competing sources. Another
reason they are last is because it will help my end my supports on a
positive note towards my statements and provide reinforcement to my

essay.
Concluding Strategy: Explain how all the main characteristics of a baseball bats make it
a well-balanced weapon for fighting zombies.
o Reasoning: This will reinforce my position and tie everything together. This also
helps me bring all the individual parts and connect them as a whole to get my
main point across.
