Based on your experience, observations, reviews etc. you need to produce a complete
brochure on traditional cuisines in Malaysias multi-racial society.
Justify on how you can use the brochure produced as the teaching aids in your teaching and
learning process in accordance with cultural relevant pedagogy.
As an introduction, teacher explains that there is a culture in all communities in
Malaysia especially major races such as Malay, Indian, Chinese and ethnic groups in Sabah
and Sarawak.
Next teachers show brochures and talk about the traditional cuisine of the last races.
Perform a brief question and answer by emphasizing the relationship between traditional
cuisines festivals are celebrated earlier with these groups.
Once students understand the earlier introduction teacher can start the next activity
by dividing the students into four groups and build four columns on the chalkboard by
labeling it with the names of the groups that have been divided before.
The next step is to give the last brochure to each group. Each group was given 5
minutes to read the brochure without making any notes. Brochures will be returned to the
teacher after the time runs out.
Teachers will read back a few hints about the intended cuisine and each group is
required to send a representative to come forward and write the kinds of dishes which the
last teacher. Group can accurately answer will be assessed. This process is repeated
several times until the end.
Upon completion of activities teacher slide show above contains brochures and
explains back the types of cuisine and its influence on the communities involved and to all
Malaysians.
