TENSION
Before washing: 20 sts and 28 rows to 10 cm
measured over stocking stitch using 4mm (US 6)
needles.
Tension note: Denim will shrink in length when
washed for the first time.Allowances have been made in
the pattern for shrinkage (see size specification at the
end of this pattern).
BACK
Using 314mm (US 3) needles cast on 93 [97: 101: 107:
113: 119: 125: 131] sts.
Work in g st for 4 rows, ending with RS facing for next
row.
Change to 4mm (US 6) needles.
Beg with a K row, work in st st until back meas 38 [38:
37: 40.5: 39: 41.5: 40.5: 42.5] cm, ending with RS
facing for next row.

Dec 1 st at each end of next 5 rows, then on foll 1 [1:

Shape shoulders and back neck

needle and turn, leaving rem sts on a holder.
Work each side of neck separately.
Cast off 4 sts at beg of next row, then 6 [6: 6: 7:

With RS facing, rejoin yarn to rem sts, cast off centre

Work 18 rows, ending with RS facing for next row.
Shape shoulder

Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then 3 sts at beg of

Cast off rem 11 sts.
MAKING UP
Do NOT press.
Join right shoulder seam using back stitch, or mattress
stitch if preferred.
Neckband
With RS facing and using 314mm (US 3) needles, pick
up and knit 38 [38: 38: 40: 40: 40: 42: 42] sts down left
side of neck, 17 [17: 17: 15: 17: 17: 15: 15] sts from front,
38 [38: 38: 40: 40: 40: 42: 42] sts up right side of neck,
then 41 [41: 41: 43: 43: 43: 45: 45] sts from back.
134 [134: 134: 138: 140: 140: 144: 144] sts.
Work in g st for 2 rows, ending with WS facing for next
row.
Cast off knitwise (on WS).
Machine wash all pieces before completing sewing
together.
