The product of two integers are positive when both integers are positive or when both integers
are negative. Looking at the problem below, we know that (-6 + 6) will equal 0 and anything
multiplied by zero will always equal zero. Then we used the distributive property
Example 1:
-4 (-6 + 6) = 0

-4 (-6 + 6)

-4 (0) = 0
Example 2:
Remove 4 groups of 6 cold chips. -4(-6)

-- -- -+ + + + + +

-- -- -+ + + + + +

-- -- -+ + + + + +

-- -- --4(-6) = 24
Using the analogy of cold chips and hot chips, as you can see I started with 4 groups of 6 zero
pairs. The problem above asked me to remove 4 groups of 6 cold chips (-). I circled 4 groups of

cold chips and removed them. I was then left with 24 hot chips (+). My final answer to this
problem is +24.
