The pharmaceutical and healthcare industry reported an increase in deal value in Q4

2015 with USD237.7 billion compared to USD201.3 billion in Q4 2014. However, the
number of deals decreased in Q4 2015 with 1,013, as compared to 1,143 in Q4 2014.
On a quarter-on-quarter basis, the number of deals decreased and deal values
increased in Q4 2015, when compared to 1,053 deals worth USD145.7 billion in Q3
2015. Licensing agreements recorded an increase in upfront payments and
milestone payments in Q4 2015. A total of USD867.6m and USD10.4 billion were
reported as upfront and milestone payments in Q4 2015, compared to USD729.3m
and USD6.5 billion, respectively in Q4 2014.
