Fourth grade focused on the subject:

After school activities.
Most of the students indicated that they
were participating in various after school
activities.
As an introduction to this subject, every
student shared what after school activity
he or she is involved in and told a few details about it using the vocabulary they
learned in class using the booklet of Chaverim. Some of the vocabulary they
learned was: instructor, swimming, music, late, to play (musical instrument)
counselor, and more..
The skills practiced and expressed:
Conversation:
Students were divided into pairs - each pair was given the option of two
predetermined groups. A couple of students stood in front of the classroom and
described their activity. For example: in my activity we run a lot and there are
competitions. The other students, according to their friends descriptions had to
guess which activity they presented. The children enjoyed the activity very much.
The conversation included:
A. Vocabulary appropriate to the subject.
B. Syntax - simple sentences with pronoun, verb and adjective.
C. Present tense in appropriate verbs.

Writing - Writing about a scenario.

Each student was given a picture of children in different activities. Students had to
write a story about the picture. The students used the following guiding questions:
A. what is the activity?
B. How does the child feels?
C. What are they doing in the activity?
Reading Comprehension - Students read a number of short stories connected to
the booklet Chaverim. Reading is done as a class, in small groups and finally
with self-check for simple questions of comprehension.
Listening- We watched a short video on Victoria Filnobski, a girl in the sixth
grade, who is Israels gymnastics champion. Victorias passion for gymnastics,
begun in an afternoon activity of gymnastics.
After the video, each child was asked to write what his passion is and what they
like to be when they grow up.
