Once again, I dont know what I expected from this class but this was not it.

I was unable to take

this class from Professor Oremus, because the only section of Calculus I was at 8am. I learned
my lesson the hard way about taking 8am math classes. Nope, not gonna do it. So I have yet
another math Professor again this semester. I thought I did good this time, I got a 10am start time
for a in-person class that meets 4 days a week. The bad news is that Professor Costello doesnt fit
my learning style. He would be much better suited for a upper level undergrad class or a graduate
level class. For this level class, not so much. Professor Costello really likes proofs, I mean really
likes them, he likes them so much that is all he does in lecture. No examples, no walk through of
homework problems. Just theorems and proofs, proofs and theorems, if he says Ok here we go
just before scribbling some gibberish on the board I think Ill scream.
The other thing that doesnt help is that Im almost 44 years old. I just cant remember stuff as
well as I could when I was 24. All semester, Id go to class, take notes, then when I go to the
homework. I cant remember a damn thing. I just remember how the rules all fit together. That
combined with a mismatch with the Professors teaching style, this semester has been a real
struggle, which means that for the most part Ive had to get what I need to know from the web.
I still have a chance to pass. I need a good score on both the last test and the final in order to
pass.
