This portfolio has been created as a reflection of what I have learned in my two years as a

Professional School Counseling graduate student at Buena Vista University. This portfolio will
also show my passion and desire for the role of being a Professional School Counselor, and will
provide documentation from my K-8 practicum field experience at the South Tama Elementary.
This portfolio is divided and organized into three sections. The first section contains, this
statement of purpose, a table of contents, my professional resume, my transcripts from Buena
Vista University, along with my certification of completion for Exceptional learner and transcript
for Classroom Management. The first section also includes the State of Iowa School Counseling
Standards Pre-K 8 and my State of Iowa School Counseling Licensure Form. The second
section contains a self-evaluation where I identify three strengths and three weaknesses, a
statement of professional preparation and goals, and artifacts, descriptions and self-reflections on
each of the strengths and weaknesses identified in the self-evaluation. The third section includes
standard 12a for my field experience in School Counseling, a summary of my logged field
practicum hours, a completed and signed field practicum supervisors evaluation and a final
entry reflection paper.
This portfolio contains only a small glimpse of what I have learned throughout my
journey to become a Professional School Counselor from my professors, classmates and through
my field experience at the South Tama Elementary. The amount of knowledge I have gained
through my experiences and relationships is priceless. With that being said, I want to
acknowledge and thank those who have supported and encouraged me in my journey to become
a Professional School Counselor. I want to start with thanking my family and friends, especially
my husband Deacon and our three amazing children, Willow, Rigdon, and Django for always
being there for me throughout this journey. I also want to thank my cohort and professors and

Buena Vista University for the knowledge, support and new friendships along with the way. I
also want to thank Anita Townsley and Melanie Kemper, School Counselors at South Tama
Elementary for welcoming me into the school and how amazing it is to be a School Counselor.
