HIGH SPEED BOAT CRASH CAUSED BY ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED

POLICE, U.S. BORDER PATROL AND U.S. COAST GUARD IN ST. LAWRENCE
SEAWAY SEVERELY INJURING TWO MEN

Comwall Island, New York, April 28 -On the dark night of April 13,2010, on New

York's St. Lawrence Seaway, two residents of the St. Regs Mohawk Reservation, Jason

Cook and Dennis Benedict, were riding in a small open boat and were struck, at high

speed, by another boat belonging to any one of three different governmental agencies.

Boats from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the U.S. Border Patrol and the U.S.

Coast Guard were all present the night of the crash. As of yet, no government agency

has accepted responsibility for the incident. The St. Lawrence Seaway is divided by

United States Territorial waters as well as the Canadian Provinces of Quebec and

Ontario.

Prior to the crash, the Government boats were seen racing around New York's

portion of the St. Lawrence Seaway in the dead of night, their engines howling, only

stopping after a sickening crunch when at least one of the Government boats smashed

into Cook and Benedict. The crash threw both of the Akwesasne men into the chilly

water.

Jason Cook's attorney, Eric Gottfried, of the law firm Lefkowicz & Gottfried,

LLP, made the following statement, "Had the Governments' boats not been speeding

over the water in the dark of night, this tragc crash would never have happened."

Jason Cook is recuperating from his injuries after back surgery.
