In 2008, the US was the largest contributor to global small wind capacity, with a
37.8% share, while China was a close second with 37.6%. By 2014, although the
capacity in the US had increased significantly, its share had reduced to 25.8%, as
China, Canada and the UK had all increased their shares through large capacity
additions during the 2008 - 2014. Germany, Spain and India had small shares of the
global installed capacity in 2008, and maintained these shares without any
significant change by ensuring consistent annual capacity additions.
