ABSTRACT

Sandwich composite panel is tested with three point bending. This Sandwich
Panel is a composite section which is made from sengon wood as a sandwich
core panel with 550 mm x 50 mm x 22 mm size. It is reached to upper and lower
side with skin material variation and connected with the agglutinant. The
variation of skin material used from aluminium, plywood and jute fiber composite
with the same section dimension but in different height of layer are 1 mm for the
aluminium, 3 mm for the plywood and 2 mm for jute fiber composite. Dimension
of the tested object are 50 mm wide and 550 mm length for every skin variation.
Bent experiment with three point bending is taken to know the bent power and
sag of sandwich panel with every skin material variation used. The power of sag
and the sag value are analyzed from the experiment. Then, the result will be
represented in this paper. The power of sag has a larger value than the
controlled sag power. It means that there is enough security factor with the
additional skin of the sandwich composite panel.
Keywords : panel sandwich, three point bending, power of sag, sag.
