Feelings you are hoping to evoke in your audience:
My family: I want my family to feel proud and excited for me. I want to
show my younger siblings that its really hard but you have to keep
pushing through to get what you want.
My Panelist: I want Mrs. Rempe to be proud of me and feel very
appreciated of all the knowledge and help that she gave me this semester.
I want her to feel my overwhelming gratitude for every little thing that she
showed me and all the opportunities that she gave me. Ms. J, I want her to
understand that I am very helpful with all the advice and always being
there to answer ALL my questions no matter how many I had.
Kris Greer: I hope Kris really does understand and truly will feel the
gratitude that I have for her and all of her help being my advisor while at
Fort Lewis. I hope she is proud and sees growth from when I first got here.
My audience(in general): I want my audience to feel the struggle that I
went through this semester and the I want them to understand and
hopefully I can convey the same feeling of respect and commitment that I
felt when I was teaching my students this semester.
Summary of how you are going to use your artifact: My artifact is a Hogan,
a traditional home for the Navajo. I am using this as a metaphor for the
circle that I see happening through my life. In student teaching I kept
seeing this circle as well. The never ending cycle or circle of teaching,
assess, reflect, and reteach. This not only applies to teaching but for me I
see this every day. To represent this circle, I will use the Hogan, it is
shaped like a circle and as a circle it represents the cycle. Not only that
but it represents where learning begins. Learning begins at home which is
represented by the pictures in the middle. Then after home we begin to
learn from outside the home, such as school, sports, the world in general.
Which is represented by the outside of the Hogan.
Steps:
a. What you are going to do/say first
i. Introduce myself, English and Navajo. Hello, My name is
Daveena John and thank you everyone for coming. I would like
to give special thanks to my panelist tonight Mrs. Rempe, and
Ms.J. To begin my presentation I want to read aloud my first
entry for my very inconsistent journal. Read entry
b. What you are going to do/say second
i. Introduce the concept of my artifact. One of the things that I
have noticed in my life and learning is that many things have a
cycle. For my Professional development plan I focused on
Formative assessment. Again I saw the cycle, in everyday
learning I saw a circle, in the traditional way of life the circle is
very important and that is why I wanted to use it. Which in my
mind is represented by a circle. To represent this circle that I
keep seeing I decided to use a Hogan. I decided to use a Hogan

because it is a home and that is where learning begins. This is

why I had my students decorate their board on one side which is
facing in with who or how they learn at home.
c. What you are going to do/ say third
Use of your statement: What is my work? And/or: Who Am I as a
Teacher?
I will read aloud my essay, but I will also read aloud another paragraph
which will conclude my essay which is what has changed since I wrote my
essay. I read it and I feel like a lot has changed in such a short amount of
time. Therefore I would like to add a paragraph to show the changes that
have happened to my thinking since the beginning of student teaching.
