Teaching Reference - Jennifer Badgley

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this reference letter at the request of Jerurifer Badgley who is applying for a
full time teaching position. I first met Jennifer when she was a student of mine *d th.rr,
later, she became one of my colleagues at Pleasant View Middle School when she
accepted a long term substitute position.

Jennifer Badgley attended Pleasant View Middle School as a student and then came back
to Pleasant View as a long term substitute teacher from March thru June in the 2003-2004
school year. She taught eighth grade science in the team of teachers I taught with. In my
twenty-two years of teaching, this group of students have been the most challenging I
have taught in regard to both academics and discipline. The teacher who took this iong
term substitute position needed to demonstrate good classroom control, be able to
differentiate the lessons to meet the academic needs of the wide diversity of students in
our team (inclusion, ESL, advanced placement math, and a large populaiion of at-risk
students), and be able to motivate a large population of unmotivated students. Jennifer
did an excellent job in all of these areas. She had a good grasp of the material and was
able to follow the state standards and teacher's units, but when needed was able to adapt,
make changes and create new material and lessons to accommodate the students to ensure
understanding and learning. She always maintained good classroom management. As a
result, we experienced a successful end to a challenging school year.

Jennifer was able to develop excellent rapport with the students and staff. She was a self-
starter who quickly assumed the responsibility of her placement and was not afraid to
face new challenges and situations. She worked well within the team of teachers and
faculty but also had the confidence and knowledge to maintain her own classroom and
work independently with little help.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend Jennifer Badgley. If her performance in the

classroom at Pleasant View Middle School is any indication of how she would perform in
your position, Jennifer will be a positive addition to your school and I recommend her
highly for your consideration.

Sincerely,

{^"/e'^-
