Her eyes opened in the middle of the night. Anne kept staring at the ceiling of the room
for a few minutes. She turned over trying to find a more comfortable position. The
curtains waved in the summer breeze through the window, performing a hypnotic
shadow play on the floor. Everything seemed to be as usual until Anne noticed an
unpleasant sound coming from the ground floor of the house.

Suddenly, she realized her girlfriend wasn't beside her on the bed. She could hear
Rachel crying briefly before the door slammed. Despite the fact that Anne was
completely scared, she jumped from the bed, went downstairs, and ran up to the
entrance. When Anne had walked outdoors, she could barely see a cloud of dust
behind a police car in the dark.

It was obvious why they found fault with Rachel. Not keeping her sexuality secret and
actively supporting gay pride constituted a serious crime. As soon as Anne was back
inside, she couldn't stand it anymore and burst into tears.

- Mommy, Mommy! - Anne's 6-year-old son shouted to her impatiently-. It's time to get
up.

Slowly, Anne opened her eyes and looked around the bedroom.

- Happy birthday, Mommy! - He exclaimed aloud, jumping up and down.

Rachel was leaning against the wall and she was holding a big tray plenty of delicious
food to have breakfast all together. Meanwhile their child was running around the bed
joyfully. From then on, Anne has a broad smile on her face. Fortunately, their
nightmare seems to have come to the end.
