User Manual for Asterisk IPPBX and VoIP Gateway

Network diagram:

FXS ports gateway need register to Asterisk IPPBX as extensions, and FXS ports connect
with normal phones;
FXO ports connect with PSTN lines and as SIP trunk of Asterisk IPPBX for incoming and
outgoing calls;
E1/T1 ISDN PRI trunk gateway with same functions with FXO gateway, so same
configurations for asterisk;

How to configure Asterisk for FXS ports Gateways


1) Create SIP extensions for FXS ports Gateway
In Section: Admin-Extension-Generic SIP device to add SIP extension
number

How to configure Asterisk for FXO ports gateway


1) Create SIP trunk for FXO ports gateway
Admin-- Trunks---- Add SIP trunk
For example lets add SIP trunk for 4FXO ports gateway with 192.168.2.5 IP
address:

2) Create outbound routing for FXO ports gateway


Admin-- Outbound routes to add:

3) Create IVR for FXO gateway


Recording IVR file by phone or upload IVR file to Aasterisk:

Admin------- system recordings

Create IVR rules: example thanks for your calling, sales press 0, customser
support press 1

4) Create inbound routing for FXO gateway


Admin---------- Inbound routes
Only select the destination to the IVR you created is ok, other setting no need
change;

5). Lets asterisk allow the calls from FXO:

How to configure FXS ports gateway to work with Asterisk


1) change FXS gateways DTMF method to 2833
Basic-- System menu:

2) configure SIP server as Asterisks IP


Basic----------- SIP menu: lets guess Asterisk IP is 192.168.2.10

3) configure SIP account for every FXS port


Line------- Feature menu, input username and password for FXS port:

4) change Digits Map


Routing ---------- Digita Map menu
To adjust the rules be suit for yours, Digit Map to define the length of called party
number which dialed from FXS port, so that Gateway to know when the number
dialed from FXS have been finished; the defaults setting is Chinese rules;

How to Configure FXO ports Gateway to work with Asterisk


1) Configure Routing table for outbound calls from Asterisk;
Routing ------------ Routing table menu add this row:

2) Configure FXO ports as DID (Hotline mode) for incoming calls from PSTN to
Asterisk:
Line------Trunk menu: 4FXO ports will be same setting:
