HISTORICAL RELATIONS
‘There ate several different philosophies that one can ry on for guidance. For me | will
rely heavily on three. Those are Essentialsm, Behaviorism, and constructivism. While
cezsentialsm and behaviorsm is teacher centered, constructivim snot. 8. F Skinner believed
that good behaviors controlled by the environment. Johnson, Musial, Hal, & Gollnick, 2014)
With that being sai | wll encourage good behavior with rewards and
not allow behavior
‘that society deems inappropriate. | will set the example in my classroom for behavior. Iwill act
accordingly and will teach respect for each person, race and reigion.
oeBucknerism
Wiile behaviorsm is teacher centered, constructivism the opposite. There are several
ideals find appeating inthis philosophy. Allowing my students to incorporate and develop thelr
individual ideas to the classroom experience will add divest to classroom learning Vohnson,
Musial, Hal, & Gollnick, 2014) By allowing my students that opportunity, belleve it will Keep
theic interest inthe subject and allow them tose critical thinking sil necessary in fe. Also
in constructivism, it lows me as the teacher to discuss withthe students about the discipline
in. my dlassroom. With each student being allowed to give and opinion on what the punishment
of bad behavior willbe, everyone wll be onan equa playing Held and wil know the
consequences of poor behavior.
Last but certainly not lasts the philosophy of essentialism. | believe that each subject
thats taught in school is very important and builds upon each other. | wilincorporate all
those into my classroom experience. Wiking willbe graded for speling, math will beneeded to
{or experiments, and good English will be needed during group discussion. There will never be
“down time" in my classroom. | wil keep students engaged znd focused on learning. ! want to
be a wellrounded teacher. | will continue my education while inthe classroom, learning new
skills to make learning in my classroom better and better. | want to strive to be that teacher
