Ms. Arent teaches 3rd grade students in all content areas. Ms. Arent uses various instructional practices including direct instruction and small group differentiated instruction to engage students cognitive demand while stil capitalizing on their learning needs. Ms. Arent also scaffolds her lessons for all learners and uses technology such as a document camera and interactive whiteboard to ‘enhance instruction and leaming. To offer additional opportunities for instructional support, Ms. Arent also started an after school Math Club to help her students succeed. Throughout the year, Ms. Arent has participated in professional development and has grown her repertoire of skills in explicit instruction, the use of Atlas, Illuminate data entry and analysis, teacher-partner meetings to analyze DIBELS benchmark and progress monitoring data, M-STEP awareness and administration, and the teacher evaluation process. Ms. Arent has also become skilled in the implementation of Scott School's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system. In addition, she has learned about Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) through the DeWitt's adoption of this extension of Michigan's Integrated Behavior and Learning Support Initiative (MiBLSi) that Scott Schoo! has participated in for several years. Itis clear through the various instructional roles Ms. Arent has assumed that she is prepared for a classroom of her own. Aside from being classroom and instructional ready, she possesses intangible skils that districts are looking for in a teacher. She is a collaborative educator who ‘works well with others. She is friendly and compassionate to students, families, and colleagues alike. She is punctual, prepared, and never shies away from challenges or being involved in school programs and initiatives.
