North Central High School Acceptable Use Policy

Policy Description
The North Central School District is providing students with computer network and Internet access while
in the school buildings. This allows students to find, evaluate, share, and create content for school or
classroom purposes.
Every year, each student who wants computer network or Internet access through the school must sign
and submit an Acceptable Use Policy. Students under the age of 18 must also have a parent or guardian
sign the form as well. By signing this agreement, the student, and parent or guardian agree to follow the
rules outlined in this policy and to report any misuse of the computer network or the Internet to a teacher,
administrator, or other faculty.

The following uses are considered unacceptable, but not limited to:
1. Selling or purchasing illegal substances
2. Sending or receiving confidential information or copyrighted materials
3. Uses that cause harm to others or damage to their properties
4. Accessing others e-mail
5. Damaging computers, other devices, data, files, or the network
6. Using profane, abusive, or impolite language
7. Disguising your identity, impersonating someone else, or sending anonymous emails

way damaging the computer network

Consequences
Students found in violation of the Acceptable Use Policy will face consequences relative to the offense.
This includes loss of computer network and Internet access ranging from one day to the remainder of the
school year, and could include detention, in school suspension or out of school suspension. Students who
lose access to the computer network and Internet will be expected to complete all assignments using pen
and paper.

Opportunities for Technology Use in the Classroom

Our school is one-to-one using iPads in the classroom. As such, students have the opportunity to use these
iPads, as directed by the teacher, to find, evaluate, share, and create content for school or classroom
purposes. This includes, but is not limited to, creating digital projects, completing assessments such as
tests or quizzes, research, communication with teachers and peers, and accessing grades and assignments.
