Rights of Defendants in Iceland:

1. Like the United States, the defendant


has the right to a fair and speedy trial.
2. Defendants are presumed innocent
until guilt is proven.
3. They are generally tried without
delay from the system
4. They are provided with their own
counsel with a sufficient amount of time
to prepare their defense.
5. Defendants have the right to be
present at their trial, to confront
witnesses, and to participate in
proceedings.
6. Defendants have the right to appeal
Courtroom Rules:
1. No groups are barred from testifying
and all testimony is treated alike.

2. The court has the discretion to allow


the introduction of illegally obtained
evidence.
3. Trials are public and conducted fairly.
4. Appeals are handled with speed.
