Target Logistics has filed suit in state and federal court to address recent unjust
actions by the City of Williston, North Dakota, to ban workforce housing.
Our court papers point out that the recent ordinance passed by the City
Commission seeking to impose this citywide ban must be struck down for multiple
reasons. First, it is a flagrant government intrusion on property rights that violates
the United States Constitution. Additionally, the ordinance was not lawfully
enacted under the citys own procedures, nor can it be legally applied to Target
Logistics property as a basic matter of zoning law.
Target Logistics has always embraced a keen sense of corporate citizenship
toward the communities and environments in which it operates, says Target
Logistics Regional Vice President of Operations Travis Kelley. Along with other
industry leaders, we worked several months with city officials on a solution and
compromise to avoid any legal action. We remain unwavering in our commitment
to optimize our customers workforces and to North Dakotas oil industry.
There will be no further comment at this time.
