As per NACO directive (Ref. no. S- 12015/1/2008- dt 27-11-2009), Karnataka State


AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS) has created one contractual position of Technical
Officer per State Reference Laboratory (SRL). Accordingly, the State Reference
Laboratory at Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore will be appointing a Technical
Officer by 5th, May 2010. Details of the post are as follows:-

Qualification:
- medical graduate with two years laboratory experience
- M. Sc in Medical Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Life Sciences
Experience: (relaxable)
- minimum two years experience in medical microbiological/ immunological
laboratory techniques
- candidates with experience in Quality Assurance
Remuneration: Rs. 23,000/- per month
TOR’s of Technical Officer:
1. Monitor the work related to EQAS, including sending of panels to the ICTCs/
PPTCT/ Blood banks.
2. Obtain monthly EQAS reports form ICTCs/ PPTCT/ Blood banks and review
work done.
3. Ensure that quarterly 20% of positive and 5% of negative samples are being sent
and documented every first week of the quarter (7 days in 3 months) to the
supervisory lab for confirmation and received the same and documented from the
lower tier lab to the SRL.
4. EQAS data analysis and reporting.
5. Following up with the sites which had not sent the last reports for EQAS.
6. Supervision and mentoring of laboratory technicians of ICTCs / PPTCTs.
7. Supervision of laboratory technician training.
8. Twelve days tour to linked ICTC centres. (Technical Officer will have to submit
the tour report within 48 hours to I/ C SRL and copy to NACO).
9. Coordination with DAPCU officers for their field travel.
10. Any other work assigned by the supervisory officers.

The Technical Officer will be posted at SRL, KMC, Mangalore and shall report to the
HOD/ Incharge, SRL.
The remuneration would be paid by KSAPS directly.
