Each of the above lessons will follow the same basic structure:
1. Communicative language focus:
This will be the major focus of each lesson and will involve the students actively participating in dialogues
and getting plenty of practice communicating.
2. Grammar point:
Each lesson will also focus on a specific grammar point to build up their structural understanding of the
language and hopefully enhance the engagement in the communicative aspect and retention of
vocabulary.
3. Vocabulary:
Any specific vocabulary that arises in the communicative language focus and grammar point will be
reviewed and practiced, as will any other vocabulary that might assist in the communicative context being
explored each week.
4. Cultural awareness:
This part of each lesson will cover important aspects of Japanese culture relating to each communicative
context (e.g. etiquette surrounding chopsticks use would be covered in the week focusing on food).
5. Review:
A general review of the above will be included each week to allow students to consolidate and clarify key
points from the from the lesson.
