Dear Mr. Gango:
For my senior research paper, I have chosen a topic that pertains to the field of biomedical
engineering (BME). Through technological innovation and design, BME’s have the ability to
produce highly efficient medical devices such as prosthetics, artificial organs, and other devices
at the molecular level. Taking a Biotechnology course at Princeton University this summer has
definitely contributed to my understanding of BME including the benefits and concerns society
‘might associate with. The world of biomedical engineering as we know it is constantly
advancing, some may argue that perhaps too fast, but nevertheless providing new discoveries and
a greater insight to the application of science.
The research topic I have chosen is the application of nanobots as a more efficient form of cancer
treatment than traditional methods today. Nanobots are the latest form of cancer technology that
have been developed to treat and “eradicate” all existing forms of cancer. At about 3 nanometers
in length, nanobots are composed primarily of DNA, and have a hexagonal-tube structure which
‘enable them to release their enclosed toxin/drug to specific targeted cancer cell. This process,
unlike chemotherapy and radiation, does not harm the rest of the body's healthy cells, but rather
attack only targeted cancer cells. Many argue that we still don’t know much about nanobots and
their possible implications on our bodies. Evidence supporting my thesis is that animal and
human trials have already begun, revealing nanobots might actually be much more efficient.
My senior project is very similar to my research paper since I intend to ereate a larger scale
model of a nanobot. I intend to obtain and make parts that will resemble the structure of nanobots
that are currently being used. My overall goal is to attain a model that not only reflects current
nanobots, but incorporates my own creative structural design.
Plagiarism and/or mistepresentation is to communicate another person’s work without giving
them credit. For this reason I will abide by the standards of academic honesty that Sierra Vista
High School expects from every student. I will submit my research paper to www.turnitin.com,
and understand that if I plagiarize my research paper [ will receive a zero, Disciplinary action,
failure of the first semester of English, and not graduating may be possible consequences.
Sincerely,
€ Woke
