As you may already know by looking at the MyUCSC portal, we released all of our frosh admissions
decisions for fall 2016 earlier today, and you were among those admitted. Congratulations on your
achievement!
Many students wonder if they are admitted to the major they listed on their application. At UC Santa
Cruz, you are able to pursue the major you listed on your application, or a different major if you
desire. First-year students at UC Santa Cruz formally declare their major no later than the
sophomore year.
The next steps to accepting your offer of admission are on the MyUCSC portal. You must complete
the online acceptance process by the May 1 deadline. Please take the time to review your admission
materials and other related information that appears in the portal. Should you have any questions
that are not addressed in the portal, please e-mail our office at admissions@ucsc.edu.
We also encourage you to reserve a space in Spring Spotlight, April 1-9, excluding April 3. For newly
admitted students and their guests, Spring Spotlight includes tours and other events designed to
help you personally experience the high caliber of our faculty and their research impact on the world,
view our distinctive residential college system, and learn how our passionate students get the most
out of their UCSC experience. Youll be able to see the colleges, attend presentations, and visit
classrooms. Tours involve significant walking, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes, and dress in
layers for our changeable coastal weather. Reservations are required: See

Please also consider joining us online for Spotlight Mondays in April. These free events are a chance
for admitted students and their families to learn more about UCSC, to connect with staff and
students, and to have their questions answered.
