BACTRIAN CAMEL

NATURAL HABITAT: The Bactrian camel is mainly located in central


Asia.
RANGE: The Bactrian camel is native to china and magnolia. However
the animal can be found in Asia.
HABITAT: Dry grasslands and deserts make up the species primary
habitat.

DIET:

Bactrian camels feed on a wide variety of

plants material, including grasses, herbs, and


leaves.
LIFE SPAN: Bactrian camels may live as long as 40 to 50
years.
ADAPTATION: The Bactrian camel has the ability to store
water for a long period of time.

STATUS: The Bactrian camel is currently critically


endangered
GENDER DIFFERNCE: The male are normally heavier and
also, the male is bolder than the female, also females have
puberty changes about 2 years earlier then males
BEHAVIOR: Wild Bactrian camels are normally found in small
groups.

Vocalizations: The Bactrian camel has the ability to


make a wide range of sounds. They like to be in large
groups.
Captivity Concerns: The Bactrian camel is being
threatened by hunting, habitat loss competition for
resources with introduced livestock.
Food Supply: The Bactrian camel eats plants including
thorny dry plants, leaves, and twigs.
Human/Camel Safety: The Bactrian camel exhibit has
moats, a fence, and is an open area exhibit.
Interesting Facts: The Bactrian camel has padded feet
to walk on rocks without damaging their feet.
The Bactrian camel does not need to sweat until the
temperature is above 106*F.
