Self-defense or Murder?

Battered Women, Battered Justice, an article from the New York Times,
shows an example of women who have been accused guilty of murder and
sentenced to prison for killing their abusive partners. Some states in our country do
recognize Battered Women Syndrome for self-defense, as being a state of mind not
reasonable to think rationally. New York State, however, still sends women to prison
for crimes that reflect on their impulses of self-defense against their abusers.
