childrenofZanzibar.Whetheryourteachingexperiencerangesfromprofessionalto
inexperienced,anyonecancontribute.
WeworkwithaschoolontheeastsideofZanzibarinthevillageofBwejuu.Thisside
oftheislandisblessedwithpowderywhitesandbeachesandcrystalclearturquoise
waters.Itspartoftheislandslongestbeachesandisnumerouslyrankedasoneofthe
mostbeautifulbeachesintheworld.
Ourvolunteerprogrammeworkswithunderprivilegedandorphanchildren.
VolunteershavetheopportunitytoteacharangeofsubjectssuchasMaths,English,
Biology,Chemistry,Physics,Arabic,BusinessandEconomics.Wealsoofferthe
opportunitytotakepartinarangeofafterschoolactivateswiththechildrensuchas
football,artsandcraftsandsinginganddancing.

ZanzibarVolunteerswasfoundedinsummer2013.Overthepastfiveyears
volunteershavebeencontributingtoalocalschoolinthevillageofBwejuuineffort
toimproveteachingconditionsandraiselocalstandardsofeducation.Weaimto
benefittheschoolthroughworkingwithlocalteachersandstudentstoprovide
childrenwithamorecreativeandinspiringlearningenvironment.
Theschoolwasfirstestablishedin2004inefforttoprovideunderprivilegedand
orphanchildrenwithaneducation.Theschoolisunderfundedandlacksmanybasic
teachingresources.Therearearound450studentsand11teachers.Alltheteachers
arelocalvolunteerswhoarepaidabasicallowanceratherthenastandardwage.
