Content Objectives and Language Objectives:


My students will learn grade level vocabulary. Then they will review
Greek root words to use as a clue to know the meaning of an
unknown word with the same root. I will model for them proper
syllabication if I notice any students struggling to pronounce the
word. Then we will read our story from the Imaginate book and
students will ask and answer questions to demonstrate
understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for
the answers.

I will use comprehension strategies such as clarifying,asking


questions, and visualizing. I will ask them questions regarding the
text to check for comprehension and to help those who struggled with
comprehending the text. I will have them make connections and
predicitions to the text. I will also have them share their thoughts
with their peers.

As my students read, they will make connections using their


background knowledge and new knowledge gained. My students will
read the definition of vocabulary words while also seeing and reading
those vocabulary words used in sentences. They will then share what
they just learned with their neighbor using various prompts. To learn
the various root words I will have them discuss what they think the
root word means with their neighbor and what the unknown word
means with the root word added.

them apply the
knowledge they gainded
and will help them
review that knowledge.

clarifying.

I will determine whether to reteach any of the standards taught and


differentiate my instruction to fit the needs of what they learned by
going deeper or reteaching if 75% of my students aren't grasping the
concepts or experienceing comprehension of the text, vocab, or word
structure.
