Plate Tectonics Graphic Organizer

This assignment on plate tectonics will help you organize data and apply your understanding of
information that is covered from Chapter 8 in the CPO Focus on Earth Science textbook.
Assignment Instructions:
1. Work in teams of two for this assignment.
2. Review information from Chapter 8 (pages 157-175) in the CPO Focus on Earth Science
textbook. You will apply concepts and illustrations from these lessons into the graphic
organizer.
3. The focus of the graphic organizer is to analyze information that distinguishes plate
boundaries and how they function. The three plate boundary types are given to you. Your
objective is to fill in the appropriate information based on your understanding from the
CPO reading.
4. The sub-categories are organized in four color-specified sections:
a. BLUE boxes: identify the point where two plate boundaries meet, for example
ocean-ocean
b. RED boxes: illustrate the movement of the plates at a particular boundary
c. ORANGE boxes: specify the resulting effects of a plate boundary movement
d. BLACK boxes: you must give at least one example of a geological location that
exhibits that particular plate boundary
5. All information must be to the point and must show your understanding of the concept.
6. Illustrations made in the red boxed categories must be drawn neatly.
7. Your work must present neatness and all information should have correct grammar,
mechanics and spelling.
