Prevention plays a major role in the job of a dental hygienist.

Part of prevention is creating a baseline for patients. Recording

probing and recession is part of creating the baseline for patients.
I included a probing proficiency in this section along with a grade
sheet for a patient that had generalized recession. Knowing where
your patients start is an important part of helping them maintain
a healthy oral cavity or to improve. Sealants are a great way to
prevent caries so I included a sealant proficiency. I also included a
journal review about children having early dental appointments
and caries rates. This is a great article to show that prevention is
important but there is still a lot of research that needs to be done.
