The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush by Tomie dePaola-This is a folktale

about the Indian paintbrush, the state flower of Wyoming, first bloomed, and how a young boy
dreams of creating a painting of a beautiful sunset. This book is great for 2 nd grade while learning
bout Native Americans.

2. Bimwili & the Zimwi by Verna Aardema-This is an African folktale that has
the moral of how we all should look out for each other and the importance of
family values. This story is good for all ages and has a great message.

3. Meow (Cat stories from around the world) by Jane Yolen This book is
super cute and shows 50 cats in their native countries and dress. The book
contains 9 stories from all over the world, nursery rhymes, and beautiful
pictures. This book is geared more towards children 4-8 but anyone who loves
cats and nursery rhymes would enjoy this book.

4. Hush by Minong Ho-This is a Thai lullaby that is about hushing different

animals such as a water buffalo, lizard and monkey to be quiet so a little boy
can go to sleep. I like how this story contains some different animals that are

in different countries such as the water buffalo. This book also won a
Caldecott Honor. The story is appropriate for grades K-2.
