My research topic was over the hurdles children face while their parents are incarcerated.
I had a very difficult time organizing the research proposal. I have never completed a research
proposal before. One thing I didnt want to do was complete my research proposal exactly like
Ms. Hastings. I used different heading for the research proposal such as objectives, working
thesis, main idea, discussion, and work cited.
I was satisfied about my research paper grade because everything was done correctly.
This topic mattered to me because my father has been incarcerated since I was eight years old. I
can also relate to a million children who parents are incarcerated. Children with incarcerated
parents deal with transportation, stereotype, feeling of shame, guilt, abandonment, uncontrolled
anger, and impaired ability to cope with future stress and trauma.
I used six sources and each one supported my research topic of the hurdles children face
while their parents are incarcerated. I wanted my research paper to be a topic that I can relate to.
I believe that the prison systems can make a better way for incarcerated parents to spend time
with their children. Children with incarcerated parents deal with different hurdles everyday.
