To Whom it May Concern:

I am writing this letter to offer my recommendation for Erika Bricky. Erika was a student in my Geography class her
freshman year. Ive also had the pleasure of working with Erika as her class advisor during her tenure as the
Sophomore Class Treasurer and Junior Class President. It has been an honor to watch Erika grow into a
hardworking, determined, and resilient young woman.
Erika is a role model to all students on campus because she is willing to go out of her way to assist her peers
whenever it is needed and she possesses an uncanny ability to provide energy and guidance that promote a vibrant
school climate. Erika has proven that she is a dedicated and diligent worker who is determined to do the best job
possible and will not quit until she has achieved success.
Erika has set a goal for herself to be the Valedictorian for the Class of 2016 and she is well on her way of achieving
that goal. Not only is she a life member of CSF but she has also earned a 4.83 GPA during her time here at Merced
High School. She is a hardworking student who strives to do her best in whatever endeavors she takes on. She has
challenged herself by taking Advanced Placement classes to prepare her for her college career where she plans to
study political science. Since her participation and experience at Girls State she has become heavily interested in
the processes of government and how the entire country operates. She understands that there are thousands of people
who play a significant role in the decisions of our local, state, and nationwide governments and she hopes to
someday become one of those people who can make a difference in their community.
Throughout Erikas tenure here at Merced High she has been actively involved in student government/leadership.
She has served as the Class of 2016 Treasurer and President, as well as secretary and president of the Environmental
Club, and president of the Journalism. She has attended both RYLA and Girls State two statewide leadership camps,
and has been awarded a Character Counts award for her display of character as well as Miss Merced Countys
Outstanding Teen.
To say Erikas work in the community is admirable is an understatement. Her mom being a cancer survivor has led
to her involvement with Relay for Life. She has served on the planning committee for Relay for Life since her
freshman year, where she attended weekly meetings and planned/participated in fundraisers. For the past two years
she has served as the Chair of Youth Engagement which requires her to plan the activities for the children attending
the event. She has also traveled twice to Tijuana, Mexico to build houses for families in need. These activities have
taught her a lot about hard work and also to thankful for what is given to you.
It is because of these reasons that I offer my highest recommendation for Erika. Should your organization decide to
award Erika scholarship funds your organization will be pleased with her work ethic, commitment to service and
willingness to complete any job to perfection. Should you have any further questions please dont hesitate to contact
me at jpedrozo@muhsd.org or (209) 385-6467
