Field Trip Lesson Review

Learning Target:
I can compare and contrast two or more places.
I can understand the difference between past and present.
I can use graphic organizers.
Materials:
4 pieces of big poster paper
Smart board
Venn diagram
Anticipatory:
Two pictures will be on the Smart board and the students will
label the place in which each picture was taken at.
Input:
Students are thinking about this weeks fieldtrip and using our
newfound knowledge and journal entries to create a large poster
about either the Muskegon Fire Station or Muskegon Fire Barn.
After completing one poster the groups who have the same place
will get together and compare their ideas to other groups poster.
They will also use this time to fill in any missing pieces to add to
their poster.
As a class we will use the information from the group created
posters and make a Venn diagram. Students will be comparing
and contrasting the Muskegon Fire Station (present) to the
Muskegon Fire Barn (past).
Assessment:
Mrs. Mason and I will be checking to see how well students are
working together in small groups while creating their posters. We
want them to be communicating positively and all participating
in the activity.
While creating the Venn diagram as a class we will be checking
for understanding of correct use of different and same.
We will be looking for student ideas about past and present
events and how things have changed over a period of time within
a community.
