Based on what you know about the character so far, describe WHY the director
chose to use this particular technique. What does it subtly show the audience
about the scene and the character?

I believe the director chose a close up here to emphasize the dynamic that
Lionel Logue brings to the relationship between Bertie and himself. His
stance is one of dominance, like hes protecting his sacred space,
particular to who he allows inside.
I believe the director chose to come at Mr. Logue eye level to highlight the
intenseness of the scene. Its clear that hes serious about his work and
what transpires in the room behind him. Its like hes evaluating the
person at the door, checking if theyre worthy to enter his sanctuary.
This is a picture, no camera movement.
I believe the director used rack focus at in this scene to bring all the
attention to Mr. Logue and his facial expressions. He has to make a
decision on whether or not to accept Bertie and this frame holds us in
suspense about his decision.

High Key

I believe the director used high key lighting here so that the entire scene
would be lit. It shows an openness to Lionel Logue and his practice. It
gives off a vibe of acceptance and serenity.

Point of View

I believe the director used point of view so that we as the audience could
fully capture Lionel Logues response to the scene. It literally puts us in
the conversation. His posture toward the person at the door suggests
dominance.

Lighting

What is the most powerful technique used in this photo from the film? WHY is it the most powerful?
I believe the most powerful technique used in this photo is the angle the director used. They eye level
angle brings the intenseness of the scene to the forefront. Eye contact tells you so much about a
person and their emotions.
How does it influence the way you feel about Lionel Logue?
The picture makes me place Lionel Logue in a more dominant role in the relationship. Granted Bertie
is royalty, but in Lionels office, they are equal if not slightly tilted in Mr. Logues favor.
What visual images from the film stand out most strongly in your mind? Lionel is shown most often
against an inviting backdropa fireplace or a chairwhile Albert is shown more often in spacein
a large room or in front of a blank wall. How does this influence the way you feel about each
character?
Those facts make me feel as if Lionel is more grounded. He is sure in who he is and his talents, he
knows where he belongs. With Bertie always being in open spaces, it makes me feel as if Bertie is lost.
He struggles with who he is and the speaking responsibilities that come with that.
