Assessments
Formal Evaluation
taking picture while children are placing the wooden puzzle of each
continent on a rug and label them. Then keep them in record file.
Taking out the pieces of the wooden puzzle of each continent and
tracing them on the paper.
Color them according to the specific color such as Brown color for
Africa continent and Yellow for Asia, Orange for South America and
North, Pink for Europe and Australia continent and keep in the portfolio.
Take picture during children activities of coloring different leaves on
paper and keep childrens pictures in portfolios.
Taking picture while children are doing activity of match pictures with
short stories that go along with title.
Keeping some sample of the children work, such as the short stories
that are written by them.
Informal Evaluation
Asking the questions during the activity such as what the shape of map
of North America look like?
Asking question about what are their favorite seasons.
Children observing how globe model spinning on its pole that causes
light and shade sides.
Matching continents by using puzzle wooden map.
Asking question during activity such as what is the state animals?
Asking children to choose Pennsylvania flag among other flags.
Adaptations/Accommodations for Students with Special Needs
Children will work in a small group.
Provide sample image of map and globe model.
Let children talk in soft voice as they work together and naming the
names of the continents.
CLD students will share their Spanish words for seasons and colors
such as red-rojo, orange-naranja, yellow-amarillo, purple-morado and
brown- marrn.
Provide sample image of map and allow the child to talk about it while
playing with IPad or coloring the map.

Provide model of booklet, which shows pictures and short sentences


underneath the picture of one to two sentences that explain the
specific picture displayed.
