The image above will be posted near the end of the presention of Cannon Mills because it
presents information about the former Pillowtex workers that took the opportunity given to them
to go back to community college. This pie chart will be presented as follows: “This pie chart
depicts the type of courses the laid off Pillowtex workers took when they were given the
‘opportunity of free community college. Appoximately 1600 people took this offer and enrolled at
RCCC. Each individual took courses that fell into these three categories: short-term, curriculum,
and basic skill. These courses were to aid the people back into the work force again.
Furthermore, these job titles were added for these individuals: pharmacy technician, medical
‘coding, medical unit sectretary, general construction trade, and customer service.”Fig, 3: Kannapolis City Hall on the land where Pillowtex once stood.

Kannapolis City Hall that is now standing along withthe North Carolina Research Campus on |
the site of which Cannon Mills once stood. The speech which will be given with the image will
be: “Today, the site which Cannon Mills once stood is hosting the North Carolina Research
Campus and the Kannapolis City Hall. Although the view may be sore to the eyes of those that
cherish Cannon Mills, this area has become very beneficial to society as well. As I went to the
Research Campus at the beginning of this month to take this pictures, I saw many people
‘working in these buildings. Jobs were taken when Cannon Mills was shut down, but jobs were
also provided when the Research Campus was built. The place is built to be friendly to the
community. I saw families, loved ones, elderlies, cyclists, and skateboarders as they enjoyed
themselves on the campus. As a closing statement, I would like everyone to believe that Cannon
Mills is not gone and it still lives on as the North Carolina Research Campus.”
